The
web is fantastic for Arabic Language resources to help you
improve your listening and reading. After taking some basic
Arabic grammar (see the SectionArabic Courses), don't waste any time in
exposing yourself to real Arabic!
Try
as many different sources and genres as possible to give yourself a
broad an exposure as you can. Look out in particular for new
vocabulary and phrases, and try to 'get a
feel' for idiomatic use of Arabic, so that your own language is not
just grammatically accurate, but also stylistically correct and in the
appropriate register.
A common
concern for many foreign language
students when they get to the stage of listening to and reading
material
in the language they're studying is how to retain all the
extra
vocabulary which they come across. Techniques vary from not trying to
actively memorise it at all, in the hope that sufficient exposure will
'make
it stick,' to noting down everything in one long list.
For a
more effective approach to vocabulary memorization, see the article How to
Learn Arabic
in the sectionAbout
Arabic.
